It's been another busy year and I can't quite believe Christmas is fast approaching already! Between now and then, there will be a few opportunities to view some of my current work.

The Newcastle Arts Society Christmas Show at The Richard Ling Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne

Hello! Well the summer is here and with some exciting new events - the first I wanted to mention is the Mushroom Works latest exhibition, Quite the Character which is all about celebrating illustration and comic book art and has some fantastic work by local and national Illustrators, including me, Josie Brookes, and my fellow Set of Drawers members. 

For this exhibition, I decided to include some of the work I did with my Curtis Jobling mentoring project (through Creative Partnerships). He encouraged me to come up with my own take on some iconic characters from two classic novels, 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Wind in the Willows' and the results are up on display between now and 29th August.  There's also an animation I did of some monsters singing Lionel Ritchies 'Endless Love' to each other - I could explain but it kind of has to be seen to be understood!

This year the Alnwick Gardens are putting on a Summer Arts and Crafts Fair to run in conjunction with the 700th Anniversary celebrations of Alnwick Castle.  Visitors will be able to meet lots of local makers and designers, have a tootle around the gardens  and enjoying a nice cup of tea in the heady English summer heat (fingers crossed...)

I will have a stall on the Saturday, 27th June (although its on Sunday also) between 10am - 6pm, so if you fancy a jaunt to the countryside, this is the perfect destination! Josie x

My Illustration group, Set of Drawers is having its first exhibiton!   We've taken over the Richard Ling Gallery on Gosforth High Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, for the month of May with a showcase exhibition of our Illustrative works entitled Open Drawers. 

The opening night has been and gone (with much success - thanks to all of you who made it along) but you've still got until 30th May to come have a mooch.  There are lots of lovely Illustrations on show and even Mr. Ling himself has some visual treats up to cast your eyes on !

I've just  done a quick one-day project on a sunny wednesday at Northern Print inspired by the next exhibition at Mushroom Works 'Let Them Eat Cake'  I decided to do a piece of art work entitled 'Monkey's Bananabread' insprired by one of my favourite types of cake! The print is a limited edition screen print  of 15.

Hello  everyone!

Another date for your diaries.  I'm taking part in the upcoming 'Roses are Red' exhibition  from the Mushroom Works.  As you can guess the major themes are Love and the colour Red. I have three pieces of some of my favourite loved up couple characters on show. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!  Hope you all have a lovely time over the festive period with plenty of mince pies and merriment! I should have posted this earlier but my 'Artist 1' piece is currently on show at the Berwick Gymnasium Gallery as part of their Open 2008 exhibition - all works are for sale and its on until 13th December.  The Gallery is an English heritage site at the Berwick Barracks.
 

I have submitted a piece of work for Northern Print's current exhibition, 'Norhtern Footprints'.  Its called 'The Pet (red)' and its a limited edition screen print of 8 as I made it especially to fit with the specifications of the exhibition (with each piece having to fit one square foot of paper).  The exhibition is to showcase the work of its members over the past year and has subsequently resulted in a really diverse and exciting selection of artworks!  The prices range from about £55 to £250 so it's an ideal place to look for an art lover's christmas present - It runs from November 14th to December 20th, admission is free (check website for times). 
There are also a selection of my other screen prints in the gallery's print browsers, so make sure you have a look!
